Food Hut at Cleeve Nursery Open 10.30-4pm

The Food Hut has been up and running for nearly 15 years in North Somerset and in this time has earned a reputation for its excellent food, friendly staff and quirky settings.

 

Now in its thirteenth year of trading, The Food Hut has to be one of North Somerset’s best kept secrets: but once discovered, it has become well known for its exciting and adventurous lunchtime menus, its gorgeous homemade cakes and preserves, and its legendary cream teas (with huge freshly made scones and piles of clotted cream and homemade jam).

The menu is unusual in that it changes so frequently: fortnightly, weekly or even daily, (vegetarians are well catered for) and the chefs, guided by husband and wife team Doug Wort and Kate Bull, draw their influences from the seasons and from around the world, preparing the food freshly each day. Indeed, customers are often heard to express amazement that such stunning food can be produced in The Food Hut’s tiny kitchen!

Recently, owners Doug Wort  and Kate Bull  have moved the business to pastures new, creating the same atmosphere, with the same friendly staff, but to newer, more befitting premises at Cleeve Nursery in Cleeve. 

 

Here there is a delightful outside seating area amongst the nursery’s plants and flora and when the weather is a little chillier, there is an enchanting wood burner inside to take the chill away and keep customers toasty warm.  Sofas and comfy chairs can be found and fought over in one corner and interesting local crafts can be mused over whilst sipping the excellent coffee on offer.

 

The menu on offer is a typical ‘Food Hut’ menu with hot, home cooked specials, delicious home made soups and other light lunches.
